   Thanks. I took it to a shop this morning, so I'll report back on what   
   was wrong when I find out just for the sake of anyone else who comes   
   across this.   
      
   The American Tire guy did find a split in the CV boot, so that needs   
   to be regreased and repacked, but that doesn't explain the brake pedal   
   going to the floor and the full brake fluid res. The shop guy said it   
   is probably the master cyl. so...
