From: 1991@nowhere.com              Just thought I'd write an update...              I got the truck back on Monday, and now it's Wed., and the truck is       back in the shop. As I was crusing home from en errand this morning,       feeling very much in love with my little Tonka truck, (whose name is       Paws, by the way, cause of his big tires), I noticed THE ENGINE LIGHT       WAS ON.              Argh-a-rama-ding-dong.              I called the shop and he asked if I pulled the codes. Now there's a       scarey thought... that after a $978 bill it might be A DIFFERENT       problem! I said no, (assuming it's the same problem) so he said to       being it in and they'd take a look. I like this shop a lot so far. On       the way there I was feeling like maybe I shoulda pulled the code(s)       myself just because NOT pulling them was putting a lot of trust in the       shop that they would be honest if it was the same code.              I am happy to say they called a few hours later, saying it was code 25       (original problem was code 25 / code 26). So they were testing the       rebuilt master air flow sensor they installed, and said it was showing       fluxuating readings which could mean it's bad. I am actually hoping       that's all it is, cause that's easy to replace and no one is out any       money. They can return the bad rebuild and I'm covered by what I       already paid. But they weren't through diagnosing it, and the guy       sounded iffy, like he wasn't sure that was causing the problem.              The tricky thing about these codes (25 and 26) is that when you reset       them by disconnecting the battery, they stay off for awhile sometimes,       so the mechanic thinks the problem is fixed. Then.... you drive a few       miles and the cat comes back!              Will let the ng know what happens FTR. (He asked if I needed it back       right away and I said no, cause I want them to have as much time as       they need to troubleshoot it. I assume I will hear more tomorrow.)              Thanks guys, for your input. :)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
