   Born Princess Margherita of Savoy-Aosta on April 7th 1930,
   she married Robert,Archduke of Austria-Este in 1953
   and died on January 10th 2022.
   She was the daughter of an Italian prince;
   the daughter-in-law of the last Emperor of Austria-Hungary;
   the mother-in-law of the King of Belgium's sister;
   the grandmother-in-law of a Napoleonic pretender to France.

   But perhaps the most remarkable thing about her is
   that if you go down the genealogical charts from both
   James II of Scotland and Edward IV of England (who each
   had elder sisters with surviving descendants) on an
   eldest-child-to-eldest-child basis (requiring legal marriage
   but disregarding religion or sex) you would find her to
   be the heir (a distinction now inherited by her daughter
   Archduchess Maria Beatrice Felicitas Zita Charlotte Adelheid
   Christina Elisabeth Gennara,born December 11th 1953,Countess
   by marriage of Arco-Zinneberg).

   James II->James III->James IV->James V
   Edward IV->Elizabeth of York->Margaret->James V
   ->Mary->James VI&I->Elizabeth Stuart->Charles Elector Palatine->
   Elisabeth Charlotte->Philippe of Orleans->Charlotte Aglae->
   Maria Teresa->Louise Marie Adelaide->Louis-Philippe of France->
   Ferdinand-Philippe of Orleans->Philippe Count of Paris->
   Helene of Orleans->Amedeo Duke of Aosta->Margherita

   (That's the line of descent,not the succession of notional heirs;
   Margherita became heiress when her great-aunt Amelie Queen of
   Portugal[elder sister of her grandmother who was once proposed as a
   bride for the ill-fated elder brother of George V] died in 1951 without
   surviving descendants,Margherita's father had died in 1942 and her
   grandmother earlier in 1951).

   By eldest-child succession Henry VIII (Margaret's younger brother)
   and his heirs,and Charles I(Elizabeth's younger brother) would
   never have reigned...

   Elisabeth Charlotte succeeded her brother as heir in 1685
   Philippe of Orleans was heir for just under a year 1722-1723
   Charlotte Aglae was heiress from her sister's death in 1743 to 1761
   Louise-Marie succeeded her childless brother as heir in 1768
   Louis-Philippe was heir 1821-50
   Philippe was heir 1850-1894

   The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
   at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
