   The state of Britain's railways is appalling. Poor service, inflated ticket   
   prices, ticket offices closing, poorly kept stations, fewer rural services   
   and total chaos with online booking due to multiple operators. Yet despite   
   this, the British government has found £680 million to fund a brand new
