   That assumption is unwarranted. I don't know about the area in question but in   
   Lancashire (an example I know a little about) there were up to 10 to 50   
   thousand Sarmatians (5,500 cavalry + families) dumped there in 175 CE and   
   descendants still there as a recognisable group in 425 CE. That has to have an   
   effect on the homogenuity.
