   They do of course have a choice if they want to get a referendum. If enough   
   felt strongly enough about it then they could vote on block for the Nats who   
   have said that they would hold a referendum if they won the election. They   
   may not be able to get an outright majority but if the Lib Dem voters who   
   support independence, seemingly about 50% of them, put pressure on their   
   leader to accept a referendum as a price of dealing with the Nats, then it   
   is definitely on the cards, and far more realistic than the independence   
   first campaign. To be quite honest knowing how the Labour executive is dead   
   against any referendum then the campaign was a bit of a non-starter unless   
   perhaps it gathered a massive number of signatures. It didn't!
