In all fairness Allan, I did slag him unmercifully.
I chose to do so in French for two reasons; to reinforce the impact of
my distaste for his pretentious claims by using a language which he
understands fully, and to conceal the fact that the language I was
using would have brought blushes to the cheeks of hardened thugs.
After all, children do read this group...
I suspect his anger was renewed by my failure to reply to his "mea
culpa" post in which he relieved me of responsibility, given the
unfortunate history of the Highland people and his own claim to have
been the victim of the regime in Paris. The point being that I am not
seeking his friendship as, by his own admission, most of the Highland
population is already enthralled by him.
People who use phrases such as "my many friends" are usually unaware
that the few people who do know them usually greet their reappearance
with muttered remarks like "Oh God, here comes that half-witted
b*st*rd again...!"
