   To be fair to them Scottish nationalism ( or at least political nationalism   
   within the SNP) has little to do with any supposed ethnicity. Scots are as   
   much mongrels as the English anyway (for eg Norse, Anglians, Anglo-Normans,   
   as well as later incomers) but even at that the Nats are not narrow minded   
   in who they see as Scots. Basically among other factors (ie parents born in   
   Scotland etc) they regard anyone legally living in Scotland as a Scot.
