   Yes our local ITV channel must be about the most disparate and artificial   
   area in Britain. We share it with Dumfries and Galloway, Cumbria and the   
   Isle of Man. Manx news is of no relevance to us in the Scottish Borders and   
   likewise with Cumbria. Even Dumfries and Galloway is a bit distant as we   
   tend to look on a north south basis rather than to the west. What goes on in   
   Edinburgh is far more relevant than Carlisle or Dumfries. Likewise on a   
   sporting basis, never mind the Edinburgh and Glasgow sides which most people   
   support, many more people look for the Newcastle score than they ever would   
   Queen of the South or Carlisle.
