|    Manna Rather Than Quail    |
|    24 Apr 09 19:34:31    |
From: roines@mindspring.com              Christ gave Israel manna in the wilderness,       but Israel wanted quail, so he gave them quail       as they desired though it brought his wrath.       What does that mean for today?       It means if people do not want the salvation       Christ has for them,       he may give them what they want.       This is what manna is a symbol of:       Christ, the true bread from heaven.       When the gospel had been hid from the world,       Jesus showed the world from heaven that       his righteousness rather than any of our own       is the righteousness required for salvation,       and the Protestant movement began.       But today that imputation of the righteousness       of Christ is mostly disregarded and ignored       as older Protestant theology.       This is what is now in its place:       The currently popular teaching of salvation       by surrender that actually cannot save anyone.       Surrender is the result, not the cause of salvation.       The gospel does not change:       We are saved the moment we trust in Christ alone       so that he regards his own righteousness as ours,       and so we have eternal life.       All trust must be on Christ in order to have eternal life.              --       http://roines.home.mindspring.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
