From: roines@mindspring.com              The gate to destruction is easy to find,       no problem at all.       So wide that nations and billions of people       can easily go thru it.       It is in the schools and universities,       on television and radio and Internet,       in movies and magazines and books,       in music and lyrics and dance,       in science, theories, philosophies,       in the religions of this world,       and in organizations, shops, and homes.       But the gate to eternal life is narrow       and is found by only few.       It is not popular with the world,       not loved or cherished by it at all.       The gate to life is Christ our Righteous Substitute.       The world does not know Christ in that way.       It does not think it needs a Substitute;       in fact, such a need is an insult to the world,       to its supposed "righteousness", "endurance",       "victory", "wisdom", "strength".       The world will believe that Christ       paid the penalty for our sins,       since it does not want to pay that itself,       but the world does not want to believe       the reason why Christ paid for our sins.       That reason is, so that his own righteousness       would be counted as though it were ours       so that we could have eternal life the moment       that we stop trusting in our own "righteousness",       and rather place all trust in Christ alone for salvation.       (Matthew 7:13-14; Luke 13:24-25; John 10:7-9;       John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 1:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21)              --       http://roines.home.mindspring.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
