[continued from previous message]              [204] This program would have been greatly facilitated by a secret passage       into and out of the tomb – something which was not uncommon to find in the       catacombs constructed in those times. And this tomb had been newly built by a       wealthy man who supported        Jesus, so it is likely that the tomb had been constructed specifically to       serve the needs of the post-crucifixion burial, and would therefore have just       such a hidden entrance and exit.              [205] Matthew 20:17-19; John 18:31-32.              [206] Matthew 7:15-20.              [207] Jeremiah 39:11-14.              [208] Luke 23:12.              [209] Exodus 4:22.              [210] John 1:18, 3:16, 10:19-40, 14:6.              [211] John 20:29.              [212] Matthew 6:30, 7:5, 7:11, 16:4, 23:33; Luke 11:29, 12:28.              [213] Matthew 19:23-24.              Jesus even gave one parable – the rich man and Lazarus – conveying the       unmistakable purport that poverty is somehow a great virtue that invariably       guarantees a place in heaven, whereas wealth is a sure crime that inescapably       leads to eternal torment in        hell. (See Luke 16:19-31.)              [214] Matthew 5:38-48.              [215] Matthew 22:15-22; Mark 12:13-17; Luke 20:19-25.              [216] Luke 12:51-53.              [217] Matthew 5:19.              [218] This manner of working is not nearly so incredible as it may at first       sound. In fact, it has been the basic operational formula for quite a number       of out-standing military, political and religious figures though, regrettably,       the vast majority of        those historical personalities had something other than the welfare of       humanity in mind. Similarly, although the Church has achieved considerably       more political success than Jesus could manage during his lifetime, an       objective examination of historical        and present-day activities of the Church will reveal use of the same basic       tactics.              [219] Matthew 2:16-20.              [220] Matthew 14:3-12.              [221] There are some who maintain that Jesus died in Kashmir, and the evidence       they present is not unconvincing. See, for example, Jesus Died in Kashmir:       Jesus, Moses and the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel by Andreas Faber Kaiser.              [222] Matthew 19:16-17; Mark 10:17-18; Luke 18:18-19; John 10:30.              [223] Prabhat Sam'giita is the compilation of mostly Bengali Songs, the words       and melody of which have been given by Shrii Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar, the sage       propounder of Neo-Humanism. Never before has such a vast body of sublime music       so suddenly        appeared in this world. On 10 September 1982 Mr. Sarkar taught his first song       and, as of the present time (December 1983), there are already well over one       thousand songs, creating a cultural and spiritual revolution in the fields of       poetry and music.        These songs are unique in their blending of Eastern and Western melodies, as       well as in their presentation of the fines: examples of all past and present       musical forms. Moreover, the poetry of Prabhat Sam'giita has been acclaimed by       many intellectuals        conversant in Bengali literature as being superior even to the works of Nobel       Prize laureate, Rabindranath Tagore. Each song expresses another side, or       secret, of the unalloyed love existing between pure-minded devotees and the       Lord. Taken as a whole,        Prabhat Sam'giita is the ideal musical and lyrical expression of Neo-Humanism.              [224] Matthew 6:28-29.              [225] Matthew 6:24-34.              [226] Luke 10:38-42.              [227] See, for example, The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ by Nicholas Notovich.       Some scholars have also surmised that the word, “Christ”, was derived not from       the Greek word, Khristos, but rather from the Sam'skrta word, Krishna, the       name of India's        unparalleled spiritual master who lived around 1500 B.C. (For more information       about Krishna and Krishna’s teachings, see the book, Namami Krsna Sundaram, by       Shrii Shrii Anandamurti.) These scholars have suggested that Jesus returned       from India having        acquired a Sam'skrta name, as is traditional upon learning meditation. In the       case of Jesus, the name given, so they say, was “Krishna”.              [228] John 10:30.              [229] John 14:6.              In early 1983, a Gallup Poll was conducted in the U.S.A., in which more than       1500 Americans were interviewed on subjects related to Christianity. That       survey revealed an undeniable and widespread ignorance concerning what Jesus       was alleged to have said        and done. Nevertheless, nine out of ten Americans questioned said that they       had been influenced by Jesus as a moral and ethical teacher. Seven out of ten       claimed they were deepening their personal relationship with him. And almost       six out of ten believed        that they followed Jesus' example “very” or “fairly” closely. Perhaps, most       significant of all is that two out of three Americans questioned felt that one       cannot attain eternal life without accepting Jesus.              [230] Mark 16:16; 1 Corinthians 16:22.              [231] Luke 11:9-13.              [232] Matthew 21:21-22.              [233] Matthew 7:5, 7:11; Luke 18:9-14.              [234] Matthew 5:20, 5:46-48.              [235] Matthew 13:24-30.              Presumably, this parable indicates that evil will be punished only at the time       of the so-called Judgement Day, when all the graves will supposedly be opened       so that everyone can arise and march before God's “great white throne”. (See       Revelation 20:11-15.)        And, if we accept the implication of this parable, until that Judgement Day       comes, all the good people of the world should simply turn a blind eye to the       corruption which has led to untold sufferings of the downtrodden masses – who       are, in truth, our        sisters and our brothers.              [236] Matthew 5:39.              [237] A close study of Mahatma Gandhi's passive resistance reveals that it       always had the tendency to serve the interests of the ruling power. Although       Gandhi preached non-violence on the part of ordinary citizens, he never       rejected the right of those in        power to use weapons, or military force, to achieve their goals. Thus, on at       least one occasion he declared that, in the course of India's struggle for       independence, any number of Indians might die but not a single Briton should       be killed. Furthermore,        Gandhi made it clear that when he should come into political power, he also       expected to use military force; and indeed, soon after independence, the       Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, deployed the Indian army against       Pakistan, without a single word        of protest from Mahatma Gandhi. The fact is that Gandhi was nothing but a       vocal revolutionary or, in more blunt language, a political opportunist; and       that is why all of his maneuvers reflected his primary concern – to come into       power without overly        disturbing the existing machinery of exploitation. As with a great many       popular religious and political leaders before him, Gandhi found that the most       convenient method to gain his selfish and self-serving goals was by making a       secret arrangement with        the enemy, to sell out his own people in exchange for some largely cosmetic       political concessions. These concessions were designed to enhance Gandhi's       prestige, but would still keep open the highway of psycho-economic       exploitation that the enemy desired.                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
