[continued from previous message]              'God knows everything -- all past events, all future events, and, in       between the past and future, the short span of present. But you       intellectuals, from one side you are learning, from another side you       are forgetting. Because you are learning with a particular speed and       forgetting with more speed. And this is the condition of the       intellectual. Do you want to become intellectuals, or do you want to       become devotees?              God is the Lord, He's the Father, He's the Progenitor, of all       creatures, of all living beings. Human beings, you know, are the       most developed, most elevated creatures. And He's the Lord of all       elevated creatures. He is the Lord of those so-called intellectuals       also (if they are actually elevated creatures). Lord of hell and of       heaven. But you know, those who are downtrodden people, illiterate,       sinners -- aren't they children of that Supreme Consciousness?       Certainly. He is the Lord of heaven, He is the Lord of hell also. He       is the master of all, He is the Divine Consciousness of all. So no       sinner should feel that because he is a sinner, the Supreme       Consciousness doesn't love him, the Supreme Consciousness doesn't       like him. He should remember that he may be a sinner, but still he       is the child of that Supreme Consciousness - of God; the Supreme       Consciousness (God) cannot hate him.              He is the Lord of all elevated creatures, He is the Lord of all the       seven heavens, and He is the Lord of, He is the Father of, He is the       loving Progenitor of all downtrodden people, all sinners, all       degraded, depraved persons. So it is the duty of all human beings to       utilize each and every moment of their precious lives in spiritual       practices, in divine meditation, in ideating on the glory of the       Supreme, and utilize their valuable lives in doing the singing of       the name of the Lord.'       (A'NANDA VACANA'MRTAM PART 34, THE UNIVERSAL EXPRESSION OF PARAMA       PURUS'A, 23 November 1970 morning, Hyderabad)              What is the proper approach for the human being to take?              'A person should do work and while doing work should remember that       whatever one is doing is meant for God-realization.              If a person is doing spiritual practices just for God-realization,       no matter that the world is going to hell, will we not call such a       person utterly selfish? If one is not doing service to humanity and       has no concern for them and is engaged only in spiritual practices       for God-realization, then he or she deserves to be called self-       seeking despite his or her spiritual longing.              There are mythologically seven worlds [netherworlds, hells] One is       the lowest of all. The colour of all these seven worlds is black.       Black is no colour. Want of colour is black, so there we find       blackness. But there are degrees even in blackness; all blackness is       not the same. And mythologically, the upper hells are lighter shades       of black than the lower hells.'       (A'NANDA VACANA'MRTAM PART 30, SELF-REALIZATION AND SERVICE TO       HUMANITY, 28 November 1978 morning, Nagpur)              But mythology is not the goal.              'When you attain God, there is no contraction. This is not the       seventh layer of heaven; it is in your mind. Thus, God is not very       far from the common people.'       (SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS THE SUPREME IDEOLOGY OF LIFE, A'nanda       Vacana'mrtam Part 15, 15 October 1979 morning, Nagpur)              'One must be very, very cautious, so that vanity may not develop.       What vanity will do to a spiritual aspirant is that there is an       inflated ego and this is like drinking wine, while self-       aggrandizement leads one into the deepest hell, and social status is       like the excrement of a pig. Give up all three of these mental       ailments and only sing the glories of the Lord - engage yourself in       contemplation on God.              Self-aggrandisement is truly like hell. One who suffers from a       superiority complex is converted into stone -- he or she will be       crudified to this extent. This is the result of the feeling of a       superiority complex.'       (A'NANDA VACANA'MRTAM PART 23, THE DIALOGUES OF SHIVA AND PARVATII --        3, July 1967, Delhi)              You must find God internally.              '"Here is a place of pilgrimage; if one takes a dip in this       particular river, one will acquire this much virtue -- all this is       false." If one can acquire virtue by taking a bath in the river,       then all the creatures in the water of the river will also get to       heaven. And yet all the rivers which you see nowadays at different       places of pilgrimage are full of stinking water! Those who take a       bath with such ideas are people dominated by the static principle.       Their condition is of those who are performing external worship,       worshipping the God of stone that is found in the temples, while       their internal God is left unworshipped. They are like one who       throws away the rice that is in one's hand and wanders from door to       door in search of one's livelihood. Those persons are truly fools       who throw away the food that is in their hand and wander to       different doors to beg.'       (A'NANDA VACANA'MRTAM PART 23, THE DIALOGUES OF SHIVA AND PARVATII --        3, July 1967, Delhi)              Be like the simple devotee.              'The sage asked "If your foot-dust is smeared on the forehead of the       Lord, will you not incur great sin thereby?" The cowherds replied       unhesitatingly, "Perhaps we may incur sin thereby, and we are ready       to enter hell for that. But if the dust-particles of our feet can       cure our beloved Lord, that would be wonderful." This is the       epitome of devotion, and to please the Supreme Consciousness we must       develop this type of exclusive devotion.              So you should always remember one thing: that your spiritual       practice, your mundane activities, your worldly ideology, your       social, economic, and moral ideals in every sphere of your existence       must be suffused with the ideation that you love your Lord, and you       should love Him for only one reason - to please Him.'       (THE PATH OF SALVATION, Subha's'ita Sam'graha Part 11, 1 January       1979, Patna)              from works of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti                                   ======                                          9BsIiuallaN6sEqtF2rjGiwUIwX3mBr9bgkWaiwIO7Uea3Tgu1uYx93tuekPfeDq9Aw0              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
