XPost: alt.religion.christian, alt.religion.christian.adventist,       alt.religion.christian.baptist       From: first_john_1_9@yahoo.com              My Testimony - An ode to the sovereignty of God              by DJW              I loved the darkness and hated the light.       My eyes were blinded to see my plight.              I didn't worry, I didn't fret.       I loved my sin with no regret.              I was told to seek the Lord,       but I would not of my own accord.              What would it take to make me choose Him?       I couldn't do it; I always chose sin.              What of my works, decisions and confessions?       Those were tainted by my transgressions.              What of faith and belief - would those do?       If they were from self, they would not be true.              This was my problem; I was dead within.       My supposed freewill only knew sin.              I realized my will would not suffice.       God doesn't need man's advice!              I needed God to intervene,       blot out my sin and make me clean.              God opened my ears to hear His Law.       My sins were exposed; I was in awe.              He opened my eyes to see His Cross.       I learned Christ His Son had paid my cost.              A new heart within, God had implanted.       Even my repentance was God granted.              O man it's God who does the choosing.       If you think it's you, God's grace you're abusing.              O man it's God who makes you believe.       If you credit yourself, you're still deceived.              So don't point at God and say: "I have a choice!"       Rather praise Him for choosing you and rejoice.              __________________________________________________              Blessed is the man You choose,       And cause to approach You ...       (Psa 65:4a)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
