From: nobody@dizum.com              >It is my understanding, after a careful historical study of the       >periods and countries in question, that pro-slavery Bible verses were       >cited by many churches in the South during the Civil War, and were       >used by some theologians in the Dutch Reformed Church to justify       >apartheid in South Africa. There are more pro-slavery verses than       >cited here              Not only is the Bible a treatise on slavery, but so is the Bible based       American Constititution, complete with the Bill of Rights! Slavery was       perfectly legal until 1865 and American Indians weren't even recognized as       citizens until the 1920s.              Don't look to the Bible for justice or a way to conduct human affairs. The       Amish don't associate with people not of their own belief. So, they have       become inbred with genetic diseases plaguing their lot. Likewise, other       sects such as the Jews have the same problems. While there are a large       population of Jews, they obviously were once a small, inbred gene pool. No       less a great than Albert Einstein had insanity course through his family.              The Moslems have their Bible, too. Called the Koran, its even worse than       the Judeo-Christian version. They, like their fellow travelers, also won't       intermarry. If you want to marry a Moslem, you must convert to their       murderous beliefs.              Religion remains the single most destructive of artifically created human       institutions.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
