   I'd argue that everyone in America ought to have a bible in their house, if   
   only as reference material, to know what a significant part of his/her society   
   is believing in and talking about...   
      
   The ideal would be if they had other important religious texts as well, like   
   the Qu'ran and so forth -- but whether personally atheist, agnostic or   
   whatever, having a Bible in one's house (or atleast an electronic version   
   thereof) ought to be considered essential for every educated man in America   
   or Europe, I'd say. Likewise, owning a copy of the Qu'ran should be   
   essential in any Muslim-majority country...
