XPost: alt.fan.tolkien, rec.arts.books.tolkien       From: bredband.net@ojevind.lang              There were clearly Ents in Gondor, some of them in prominent positions. One       of them was Húrin the Tall, Warden of the Keys of Minas Tirith. Since "tall"       is Swedish for "pine", we can clearly see that this is another example of       Tolkien's fondness for playing on words. The by-name nimbly informs us that       Húrin was an Ent related to the pines, and at the same time, it also       indicates his great height. No Enting, he, but a mighty Ent, wise in years.              Öjevind              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
