Of course this is physically possible -- there whole point in the
concept of 'escape velocity' is that you need to be able to attain a
certain velocity in order to escape a gravitational potential well,
but it is nevertheless a ludicrous answer to the question of whether
the vessel is fast -- it is that which is at the heart of this; for
   me at least :-/

I'm afraid that I was selfish enough to think of AFT and RABT, just
   us, here on usenet :-)

Not that I believe for a moment that everybody who come here is
automatically met with warm fuzziness -- I'm sure that we can be
harsh and unwelcoming, arguing a point till Hell freezes over (and
thaws again), having little patience with anyone who'd claim that
Tolkien was racist (or that they have 'solved' the Balrog wings
problem) etc. etc. But the degree of condescension I saw made me
worry -- precisely because this _is_ the internet and it is too easy
to just snub people that you will never see in real life.

   Valid e-mail is
Please put [AFT], [RABT] or 'Tolkien' in subject.
