      Perhaps when someone with a foreign name becomes xenophobic he feels that   
   he has something to prove.  During WWII in the Soviet Union there was a poet   
   Ilya Ehrenburg who wrote the most hateful anti-German material conceivable.   
   This lasted until Stalin decided that his cause would be better served if   
   the vitriol, quite understandable under the circumstances of course, be   
   directed against the Nazi ideology rather than the German   
   ethnicity/nationality.  I wonder if the good Ilya would have been less   
   hateful against Germans if his last name had been Russian.
