   C.S. Lewis is admired and respected by all kinds of people   
   who have no love for the Gospel message. It's not unusual   
   to see posts in this group (and others) where people like   
   these accuse him of all sorts of sympathies and beliefs   
   that would make the author shudder were he able to read them.   
      
   Mere Christianity is only a book written by a very devout   
   Christian man. It is devoted to topics of discipleship and   
   arguments that address objections that were common in the   
   secular world at the time. Personally I think CSL would   
   have been deeply offended by the obtuse reverence it   
   receives from some quarters. I certainly don't think he   
   would have been very enamored by the drift of this thread.
