Ok. Appearantly you're looking at some version of an MC world where
religious wars between denominations would be psycologically and
politically possible in the future -- or you wouldn't have posed the
   original question.

So, what other assumptions about that particular MC world would have to be
true to make such a war possible? I'm sure you don't mean that a world
otherwise like ours, that branched off sometime after the pub date of MC
(soon after 1945 let's say), would now have the US and Russia or China
getting atomic missiles ready over the same sort of theological-language
issues that the RCs and the Protestants really did use armies on.

Tho come to think of it, that's not too far out, aside from the atomics.
There are real motiives for realpolitik countries to have some more wars,
which might be sold to the masses on points of doctrine, if that was what
(in your world) the masses were interested in. Or might be sincerely held
by the leaders -- who have other reasons for going to that war.

If you want a world where in Smallville, USA, the Presbyterians are likely
to start shooting the Methodists -- I don't think I could believe that. :-)
It would take a lot of really wild SF premises; it wouldn't be our world at
all. To try to figure what it would take, and how many decades, to go from
out 1945 to such a future -- is your job. :-) But I don't think simply
everyone accepting MC would do it -- more likely, as D says?, MC would work
   against such a development.
