   I'm afraid I have seen the Golden Rule stretched that far, by some current   
   apologists defending the Inquisitiors etc.  "In an emergency, you might set

   on."  ... "Lifeguards are taught to knock out a victim or give him a   
   painful nerve pinch if necessary to rescue him." ... "To get someone to   
   turn around and leave a dangerous area, pain is justified."  Etc.   
      
   Tear gas is used even on innocent people who happen to be in the way of   
   SWAT teams, presumably for their protection, to keep them on the floor and   
   out of the line of fire.   
      
   Was it Lewis who mentioned a terrible use of the text "compel them to come
