   You mentioned Elves and housepet in the same sentence. That made me   
   think of Dobby the house-elf in the Harry Potter stories. I had a vague   
   recollection (actually wrong) that they called him a "housepet", but   
   actually the term was "house-elf".   
      
   And the "boy wizard" is Harry Potter.   
   And the "school with a silly name" is Hogwarts.   
      
   And more generally, I was picking up on your "feel free to write your   
   own" comment, and unfairly comparing Rowling with Tolkien. No comparison   
   of course.
