In article <90odh3h6qajlmup90fgfsefd8acubd543u@4ax.com>, Steve Hayes says...

   >>The "problem" here is that Potter cannot avoid opposing Christians on a
   >>pivotal theological issue. Harry's exploits are clearly supernatural,
   >>inasmuch as there is no pseudo-scientific, technobabble that will explain
   >>them. There are two known sources for all supernatural phenomena: one is
   >>God, and the other ain't. And, my theology teaches that if those who do
   >>these deeds aren't explicitly doing so in the name of God, then they are
   >>manifestly doing so in the name of the other guy. "He that is not with us
   >>is against us."

   >So I take it "your crowd" believe that ALL fantasy lit is anti-Christian --
   >Narnia, for example. Perhaps with the exception of Frank Peretti?

Narnia is okay, because it is Christian allegory. Pilgrim's Progress is okay
because it is also Christian allegory. Lord of the Rings is okay, because it
   is
a fundamentally Christian work, according to its author, with many Christ
archtypes seen in its characters: Frodo is suffering Christ at the stages of
the cross, Aragorn as royal Christ, reigning in perfect justice, Gandalf as
risen Christ, who returned from the grave after defeating the satanic Balrog ..
Though He does not appear in the LOTR, middle-earth has a one-true God, whose
name is Eru or Iluvatar ..

Whatever you may think of us, we are not given to such extrme thinking as to
judge "All fantasy" The extreme thinking is more your crowd's style, case in
   point above ..
