XPost: alt.bible       From: usenet@christrose.news              1. The fact of eternal torment               “And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son        of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?””        (Matthew 8:29, ESV)              Notice, the demons know there is an appointed time when Christ will       torment them. They're not worried about being sent into non-existence.       They're worried about being tormented.               “and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of        fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and        they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”        (Revelation 20:10, ESV)               “And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud        voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives        a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the        wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his        anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the        presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And        the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they        have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and        its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.””        (Revelation 14:9–11, ESV)              That's right. They will drink the wine of God's wrath and be       "tormented". The smoke of their "torment" will go up "forever and ever".       Further, they will have "no rest, day or night". This is not       annihilation. This is conscious torment that lasts forever and ever.               ““Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty        works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would        have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you,        it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and        Sidon than for you.” (Matthew 11:21–22, ESV)              There can't be various degrees of annihilation. You either exist or your       don't. This proves that the judgment is conscious torment, not cessation       of existence.              2. The justice of eternal torment              Those who reject the gospel will receive "deserved" punishment.               “Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on        the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse        punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has        trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of        the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the        Spirit of grace?” (Hebrews 10:28–29, ESV)              The Satanic LIE propagated by James, is that those who reject God's       love, mercy, and grace offered in Christ's atonement for men's sins,       somehow "deserve" to be spared from eternal suffering. On the contrary.       Rejecting God's love, mercy and justice in Christ, demands that they be       sent to the lake of fire! It's what justice calls for, seeing they've       rejected God's love, mercy, and grace offered in Christ.              --       Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God       raised Him from the dead?              That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death       penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death       satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John       2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your       sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.              On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on       the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name       of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).              https://christrose.news/salvation              To automatically receive daily Bible teaching updates with colorful       images and website formatting, subscribe to my feed in a client like       Thunderbird:              https://www.christrose.news/feeds/posts/default              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
