"Justified" can refer to being made, declared, or shown to be righteous.
James 2 plainly indicates the sense in which he uses the word. He
states, "I'll show you my faith by my works". He says he will "show" you
his faith by his works. He's talking about justification in the sense of
how to "show" men your faith. This necessitates that he already has the
saving faith before he shows it to others.

He also mentions the example of Abraham demonstrating his faith by his
works. Genesis 12-15 and Romans 4 agree Abraham was already counted
righteous by God through faith in God's promise, prior to when he
"showed" that faith by good works. James is not talking about
justification in the sense of how to be made or declared right by God,
but how to "show" yourself to be righteous to men. He's addressing the
error of people who claim to be right but who show no works which
   evidence their claim to faith.

Paul, on the other hand, is talking about justification in the sense of
how someone becomes right and is declared righteous by God. That kind of
justification comes only by grace, only through faith, and only apart
from our works. Paul directly anathematizes trying to become right with
God by doing good works (Galatians 1:8-9). You seek to confuse
justification before men with justification before God, thereby
promoting an "accursed" false gospel that will lead men to damnation.

Galatians, Ephesians, and Romans argue strongly that men are justified
with God only on the basis of faith in Christ, not their works. James 2
directly states hes' talking about showing his faith by his works. He is
addressing justification in the sense of showing yourself to be
righteous to men rather than just claiming to be righteous. Paul is
addressing how to become and be declared right by God.

   Galatians

“We know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through
faith in Jesus Christ” (Galatians 2:16, ESV).

“I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through
the law, then Christ died for no purpose” (Galatians 2:21, ESV).

   Ephesians

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your
own doing; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8, ESV).

“Not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:9, ESV).

   Romans

“For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight”
   (Romans 3:20, ESV).

“For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law”
   (Romans 3:28, ESV).

“To the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the
ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness” (Romans 4:5, ESV).

“Since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1, ESV).

   Titus

“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but
according to his own mercy” (Titus 3:5, ESV).

   James

“Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith
by my works.” (James 2:18, ESV)

James clearly shows he's talking about showing yourself to be righteous
to men, not how to become righteous with God.

False gospel lies which seek to confuse justification in the sense of
how you show yourself to be righteous to men, with how you become and
are declared righteous by God, try to pit Scripture against Scripture,
rather than showing the harmony. The are "accursed" and false gospels
which lead men to damnation (Galatians 1:8-9).

   --
Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God
   raised Him from the dead?

That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death
penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death
satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John
2:12). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your
sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.

On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on
the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).
