It's so nice when it works, eh? :) 

I started a message thread as you'd suggested, but then realized that our 
NerxtDoor has a "helping others" feature built in.  Might be why I had so few 
responses from potential volunteers/donors - they're likely already keyed in 
there.  At least I raised awareness of the possibility of using NextDoor to
be  helpful. . .
