I like the way that HotdogEd does. Unread echos in bold, with red warning if
there are new messages (until you enter the echo).

Something similar could be done with AfterShock, but playing with colours,
like:

- In the echo list, areas that have new messages since last poll: red square
(instead of green). After you enter and exit the echo, green square if there
are still unread messages, or no square if there aren't.
- New messages since last poll: red square. If you go back to the echo list
and enter the area again, no longer red.

(Change red by orange, yellow or whatever you prefer.)
