Tt was the day my father (groom) and his brother (best man) finished a long
drive completely across Illinois and Missouri so my parents could get
married. They heard a newscast (few car radios then) after they arrived.

Fortunately, Dad decided to work through the Friday graveyard shift and
only start driving Saturday after a good "nights" sleep. 

If he had taken Friday off to get there for a Sunday wedding, their
anniversary would always have been a day of infamy.
