But I also wonder if the information is even true. Would the Iranian officials
be that ignorant?

What makes me believe it's true is that the information (to me) came from
MSNBC, and for them it's more beneficial to stick with "Poor little Iran did
nothing to provoke the attack," but it seems like they accidentally leaked a
little truth.
