What other updates? This system with windows 8 has been running since
september 2024. There is nothing else on it but the Fido system, firefox and
Thunderbird. The latter two can not receive updates any more.

Maybe I was a bit inaccurate in my starting post. I write that this problem
appeared all a sudden but may be that isn't so. It may have happened before
without me noticing. It is only visible by the message written to the screen,
nothing is written to the logs. File handling usually happens in the night and
a missing updates from the daily files can easely go unnoticed.

Anyway, it seems I am not using the latest version of allfix. Mine still uses
a key and it is a 16 bit version.

Rumour has it that a 32 bit keyless version is available. So if you could
point me to where I can get that version, I may give it a try.
