My ALLFIX (6.00.018) definitely strips the Ctrl-Z character using the "filter" 
mechanism I describe.  I know, because I banged my head against the wall with 
exactly this problem for weeks (messages from HTick that included EOF 
characters added in the FDIZ by the author).  I process the whole filebone 
through here, and I know I'm seeing the same TICs.
