Wow that is weird. Though I haven't tried that. I just run Irex as it's
the only thing that seems to work for me.

I just have the virtual machine do that as well. Set it in bridged mode
so it gets a IP on my network and point the port 23 through the firewall to
it.

Well I hope you can figure it out. What are you running your virtual
machine under? I use Sun's VIrtualbox here which is free and works
perfectly for everything I have thrown at it so far.
