Well, I've just installed a brand new copy of 6, and re-entered everything by
hand. (Did I mention I hate gui-based programs?)

Same problem. It ran fine until I started entering either nodes or echoes or
links (dunno which)...then same symptoms again...nothing written to the log,
even in debug mode.

I'd switch to an alternative even - anything to get the damn thing working!
