   You forget most computers are protected against surge.   
   And most computers also are in a device they call : Faraday Box. This way   
   EMP doesn't reach the computer because it will be blocked by a faraday cage.   
   And there are many people who have a backup supply so they can continue   
   computing even if all is dark.
