   Is the remote computer turned on?   
      
   Is it physically connected?   
      
   Do you have the correct IP address? (Some DHCP servers reassign IP   
   addresses PDQ.)   
      
   Does the remote machine have a firewall that blocks connection   
   attempts? Your local machine?   
      
   Have you *ever* been able to connect to the remote machine? From any   
   computer? (Find a different Internet connection and try there.)   
      
   Do you have someone at the remote location who can check for things   
   like disconnected cables and the like?
