The new technology is virtually impossible to defeat. The ankle strap has an   
   optical filament in the middle and the unit pulses every few seconds to check   
   for continuity.. If it fails because it's been cut or bent.....alarm. The only   
   way I know of would    
   be to take your foot out of joint at the ankle and slip it off......   
   Excrutiatingly painful, but it would work.
