Invented. Huh. They may have independently
developed such system, but earlier than
those days Darius the First developed an
   efficient communication system to handle
information across an empire from India to
Egypt. This was about 1000 years earlier
than the Romans! The socalled "Chapars" were
stationed within a horse ride of each other
everywhere across the realm and carried
written messages from one to another at the
fastest pace a horse was capable to carry
them. Even today their remnants still exist
in Iran in the form of "carwanserays",
   scattered all over the country.
