It would be a case of taking one step back to take several steps forward. The       ACA has done some good, but it is a horrible idea to force people to buy       private insurance. This collusion between government and big business is as       harmful as GW Bush's        prescription drug care plan. The poor and the sick should not be forced into       being "smart shoppers". And in other ways the ACA has done nothing, notably       to stop the ever increasing medical costs. It would be better for us to get       rid of it and suffer        in the short term, because 1. The Republicans who voted to get rid of it will       get thrown out of office 2-4 years from now. 2. Trump is more likely to get       thrown out too. 3. And most importantly, it will allow Democrats to introduce       true healthcare        reform when they take over Congress and the Presidency--single payer/national       health insurance. If we keep the ACA, no matter if the Democrats take over or       not, there will still be the Clinton wing comparing the left to the       Republicans for wanting to        end it. They will say "we don't need to fight that old battle again". The       ACA will not be turned into a single payer public option. It would be best       get rid of it and do it right this time. Of course this puts "progressives"       (left-wing liberals) in        between a rock and hard place now, because they cannot vote to kill the ACA,       even though many probably want to, and be seen as siding with Republicans.        They should not try to hard to stop Republicans though, because Republicans       are really doing us who        want single-payer, and want Republicans out of office, a favor. Accuse me of       playing cynical political games? Damn right! We had tens of millions with       pre-existing conditions denied healthcare, and expensive insurance that did       not cover everything all        along before. Going back to it for a few years will be worth it in the long       run.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
