Alas you avoided the essentials. The spelling by the way is Filipinos and
what religion they practiced is incidental. The issue is that the apposed
the Americans as they did the Spanish. The main issue was the cruelty
practiced by a so-called civilised people, the Americans, the latter ended
up taking no prisoners. And torture was widely practiced to obtain
information from captured Filipinos. The American army dishonored itself at
the time and it was so recognized by some at the time by some Americans.

The issue was that the Americans were NOT there to liberate this country
from the Spanish but to take it over.

From one book on the war I quote:

"Tales of torture, looting, wanton destruction of property and summary
executions of Filipinos by drumhead courts shocked the national pride
the national pride and so disturbed President McKinley that he
looked around for a civil governor to take control of the islands
out of the hard hands of the generals". Eventually the head general (Otis)
offered his resignation and MacArthur (the father) took charge.

One notes at the time in the USA that the Democrats opposed the war
in the Philippines. Moreover an "anti-imperialist" league was formed
in the USA and the whole affair matched in some respects what happened
   to the US in Vietnam.

For God sake`s Jiggy, you went out and grabbed something and ran with
it again and did not have these kinds of fact on your fingertips.

Nor do most Americans. Being an anti-intellectual nation has problems.
