The 'United Way' thing (that you and       others have made a stink about) really isn't       about the United Way funding the WTS, but rather,       the United Way (of Santa Barbara) seeking to take       a cut (as an administration-fee for being a middle-       man) from donations that individuals might choose       to send to the WTS through them.               From the beginning, the WTS's policy (in print)       has been that when the money dries up, that means       Jehovah's blessing has been taken away.              > Personaly I       > beleive that if they don't help outsiders then the outsiders such as the       > unuted way should cut them from recieveing any funds.              I suspect that you greatly over-estimate the       reality of how donations get to the WTS. As       we've talked about before, the United Way has       volunteered to be a middle-man, to take a percentage       cut to pass along donations from private individuals       to the WTS (and other IRS registered charities).       If the United Way said that they would no longer       pass along donations to the WTS, the individual       donors (if there were any) would likely find another       way.               > As I said before I       > think Zod nailed it on the head when he showed us that the JW don't care who       > they get a dollar from , as long as they get that dollar, but when it comes       > down to who that dollar helps... well that's a different story.              If the WTS receives a dollar, they assume that       it is sent in from the original donor with       sincerity. Isn't that what all charities assume?       Who sends donations to a charity or a religion       JUST SO THE RECIPIENT CAN BE ACCUSED OF TAKING       MONEY FROM TAINTED SOURCES? Who does that, William?              What 'sinner' doesn't have the privilege and the       right to attempt to do good by making a donation       to a religion or a charity? And what religion or       charity would say, "no, you are a sinner ... we       won't take your money or recognize the sincerity       of your act of giving"?              If you or anyone else wants to make sure that       your money goes to someone other than JWs and       the WTS, guess what the solution is? DONATE       TO SOME OTHER CHARITY OR RELIGION, or HAND-DELIVER       YOUR DONATION YOURSELF!! It's just that simple,       William. All this teeth-grinding about money       given to the WTS not going to non-JWs is pointless,       and is purely an exercise in gum-flapping when       there are plenty of ways to not send money to       JWs, and to send it to non-JWs. You and other       anti-JWs are just using this disaster as an       excuse to exploit your anti-JW agenda. But       that exploitation doesn't prove you to be more       righteous.              -mark.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
