   There is no empirical or verifiable evidence of the existence of a   
   deity, however there _is_ the _appearance_ of design in nature and   
   the universe. If accepted as real, not just the "appearance of design",   
   but actual design, then an intelligent designer would be inferred.   
      
   When scientist such as the late, Francis Crick and Richard Dawkins   
   observe design, but assert that it's only an "appearance of design":   
   this is an apriori consideration that takes precedence. Otherwise, they   
   would take the observation at face value and attempt to explain the   
   design, rather explain the observation away by introducing the   
   assumption that it's just the appearance of design.
