   >and torturous fates?

What is your baseline, dude? How do you know how
many wars never get started due to prayer? How do
you know how many children don't die because of
prayer? How do you know how many folks don't get
various serious diseases because of prayer. All you
are doing is engaging in denial via speculation.

As to why the Lord allows suffering, you really need
to read the Bible which is God's word. The Bible is
replete with examples and explanations of how and
why the flesh is weak and not really very important
in the scheme of things. As far as the Lord is
concerned the flesh is only a disposable means to
   train the soul.

   >People pray to a higher power to intervene constantly. It stands to
   >reason that sometimes people survive and beat the odds. When that
   >happens, you believers are quick to give your lord all the credit, but
   >if that person doesn't survive, you come up with some bullshit like
   >"Well, the lord works in mysterious ways," or "It's just part of god's
   >plan".

How do you know or why do you choose to believe
that those who survive only do so by chance or
good luck? Answer: you don't know! It's just more
   of your biased speculation.

   >Simple logic should tell you that that's bullshit. The "lord"
   >thought that a baby deserved to be tossed in the air by a Japanese
   >soldier in WWII, for instance, and caught on the end of a bayonet... or
   >held by the legs and bashed into a tree while his mother watched? What
   >kind of "lord" would allow this?

More misconception based upon your bias against
the Lord. God gave mankind free will so we are
not automatons. God could have just as easily
created a bunch of automatons but what's the
   use of that?

God gave mankind free will so we could choose or
not choose to embrace Him. God gave mankind
intelligence so we could know right from wrong.
God did NOT mandate mankind only do right.
God doesn't demand we worship Him, rather,
He let's us choose but the choice is not without
   consequence.

So, some evil men will do wrong like bayoneting
babies and such a thing doesn't reflect badly
upon the Lord because free will IS necessary
and free will can result in both good and evil.

   >How can anybody in their right mind believe in such a capricious and
   >arbitrary overlord? If there actually is a "Creator" responsible for
   >all of us, it's a sure bet that he's no more than an uncaring and
   >impartial observer, and we're nothing but lab rats. Jim Morrison got
   >it right when he said "You can NOT petition the lord with prayer!"

How can you deny the Lord when you refuse
to open your mind and study God's word aka
the Bible? Again, you evidence a total lack
of understanding of the necessity of free will
and why God created mankind, who without
free will, would not even be mankind.

The Lord says, "I created you, mankind, as
you are and in my own image. You are my
children and I gave you free will as I have
free will. I don't do evil with my free will
and I will reward you if you don't do evil
with your free will. Some of you will succeed
and some of you will fail. Those who fail the
test will not have eternal life as I have
eternal life. It's your choice as you are
free to choose. If I had not given you free
will, you would not be an image of me. You
would not be and could not be my children."
