Suggest you take a look at the following from Canada Immigration's site:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pr-card/index.html
You should note that the PR card is required only if you are a Permanent
Resident of Canada and are entering Canada by commercial carrier. If you
are driving across the border is not required yet.
