   The colors have been attributed to Mrs. Wolf, wife of their president at the   
   time.  Mr. Wolf was president of USAir when that airline chose the very   
   similar colors.   
      
   Wolf did similar things at US and UA when he was their president - bought   
   large numbers of Airbus aircraft and changed the colors to gray and nearly   
   black.  Both airlines have entered bankruptcy.   
      
   He consulted for Air France between these jobs.  With the backing of the   
   French govt, they survived.
