Congress overwhelmingly gave Bush the authority to join the allied invasion
of Iraq and the intelligence available to Bush was the same as the
intelligent available to members of Congress. Some latter-day naysayers claim
that Congress was duped into giving approval, but, would never have done so
had it "known what it knows now". But, the people who make such melodramatic
statements are quick to overlook the fact that when Bush returned much later
to request about 86 billion dollars for the occupation and rebuilding of
Iraq, he got the money. Now if Congress were really opposed to the
Administation's policies in Iraq, why did they cough up the cash? The
rhetoric spewing from the bash-Bush camp doesn't hold water, so somebody's
mistaken or somebody's lying somewhere. KM
