There are several well-established traditions which maintain that the
entire concept of a "Jewish State" is in direct contravention to God's
   plan.

On the other hand, there are parallel traditions whose followers believe
that Israel is a state divinely inspired and supported by theology and
   necessity.

Judaism seems to have a few less wandering threads than Christianity, but
there's no lack of diversity. Then there are the non-religous Zionists,
who insist Israel's existence has nothing to do with Judaism and
aeverything to do with the right of Jews (as a sort of ethnic group, rather
than practitioners of a religion) to occupy a "Homeland".

I'm not sure how or why we could expect Zionists to be any more able or
likely to compromise than are many Palestinians.
