XPost: alt.airports.uk.edinburgh, alt.airports.uk.glasgow       From: jim.mason@spamtrappedukonline.co.uk              ACCC decision welcomed              BA Press Release 08/02/05              The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) today gave       approval to the continuation of the joint service agreement (JSA) between       British Airways and Qantas for a further five years.              Roger Maynard, British Airways? director of investments and alliances,       said: ?The JSA on the kangaroo routes has been in place for 10 years and we       have always said it is pro-consumer and pro-choice.              ?It gives travellers more flights, lower air fares, and the best       connections on the kangaroo routes between Australia and the UK. We are       delighted, but not surprised, at the outcome.?              The decision comes after an exhaustive 21 month investigation by the ACCC,       which culminated in a final hearing in December last year at which Virgin       Atlantic claimed the JSA was anti-competitive.              Despite Virgin Atlantic?s objections, the ACCC confirmed its draft findings       that the JSA was pro-competitive.              ends              Notes to editors:       The alliance was first approved in 1995.       It was last extended in March 2000.       The ACCC had stated on two previous occasions that the JSA is pro       competitive.              February 8, 2005                     011/KG/05                     Media requiring further information should contact the British Airways       Press Office in London on +44 (0)208 738 5100 (office hours) or 0870 850 9       850 (from the UK).
