   I cannot understand why we allow politicians in our parliament to hold   
   posts outside with firms or bodies where there is bound to be conflict.   
   They should be required to put their careers "on hold" whilst serving,   
   as happens in other places. It is bad enough to have local councillors   
   representing their own NIMBY interests without MSPs being subject to the
