From: hello@stabby.greedy.vicious              See, it's just Bill's style to collect all of that crap, thinking it has       the keys that his thugging blind eyes can't "see".              They don't know how to evaluate texts, always looking for the 'code',       always thinking that everyone is 'conspiring' behind their backs.              But, you know, you can't entertain these thugs. They are thugs.       They are killers and drug dealers and victimizers. OF COURSE people       defend themselves, through any means available to them.              This art and music "intelligence" bullshit is just more of their       "totalitarianism"....they are totalitarians, like to imagine that       nothing can escape their "all-seeing eyes". So the victims have to       account for all of the art and music etc. that DISTURBS them.              And they're too fucking vain to see that DVC is a bunch of trash.       They're just so, so hostile because they don't "understand" art, and       that's their fault.              The brownshirts were like this. Hostile to art and literature and       music. Think they know where the "truth" is.              Fact is, Bill is an EX-CON, murderer, stalker and thug. He is trying to       convince HIMSELF that he is a "legitimate" member of society by whining       and pleading and asking "what does this mean, what does that mean"?              You don't answer or validate him by taking him seriously.              Treat him like the THUG he is.              I mean, I came from a working-class background. I had little in the way       of art historical education before I went to college - just a general       classical and Catholic education, so at least I had a good grounding in       classical and Christian symbolism, which was a great boon to me when I       studied art history. But like I said, I came from a working-class       background. My Irish grandfather was a folk painter with some knowledge       and appreciation of art - from Van Gogh to Rockwell to Hopper, but, you       know, I wasn't a privately educated princess. Contemporary art, modern       art....you know, didn't have much of a background in that, either....but       you know, I kept an open mind and dove in.              What I'm saying is that these hostile EX-CONS have no excuse if they       don't "understand" art. I mean, it's perfectly okay for art to not be       your thing or to claim you don't understand it. But the thing is, for       some reason, these gangs of thugs feel a desperate need to understand       it....and why IS that?              I mean, Joe the Stockboy probably doesn't know a lot about art,       either....but then again, he's not all hostile about it. Why the       hostility from some quarters at not "getting" semiotics? I mean, I       don't "get" some science things....just had a good, but basic science       education. You don't see me getting all hostile about computer       programming or advanced calculus, do you?              Of course, the wonderful thing is, I found out later that modernism was       really about a democratization of the arts, and I also found out just       how many working-class kids had taken up art, photography and film. One       of the reasons I gravitated to Columbia was that I had friends and       acquaintances from Cal City who had gone there to study the arts.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
